LHFHG Units 11-12

We have had such a good week with Heart of Dakota's Little Hearts for His Glory, our kindergarten-first grade curriculum.  We finished last week with the birth of Christ and all the visitors He had in the stable.  This week, we have started with Jesus' ministry.  We love the review of the Bible verses, and the discussions about Jesus' character.  Did you know that He never sinned?  And it wasn't because He is God, but because He is man and fully submitted to the Father.  He doesn't do anything He isn't told to do!

Shana gets it.  We also had a thorough discussion of satan and his desire to be like God.

For science, our favorite experiment was the one we did earlier this week on vibrations.  We discussed how the angels sang songs in worship to Christ, and then filled various glasses with water.  Shana made songs she has learned in piano.  My advice to you when you do this is to tune your glasses.  Have a pourable cup measure handy to fill and empty as needed to make C-D-E with your glasses.  The fourth one can be G.  We had trouble getting the fourth one to be any pitch but E, so we omitted it and played "Mary Had a Little Lamb."

Here is Shana with her glass instruments:

And just because he's cute, here's John hamming it up on the piano.  :)

Shana says her favorite subject is (Singapore) Math (2A).  Here is a snapshot of her work from the last page of 2A.  We'll start Singapore 2B on Monday!

This curriculum is amazing.  We just love it.  Every week I wonder what we will cover the next week, and my kids are learning so much.  :)
